Dear educators,
I have introduced yoga and meditation in my classroom since 2014. My students are used to this routine and will choose to practice either one during the transition to a different block. This article will inform more about the benefits of practicing yoga or meditation in your classroom. I have found the practice very useful to help students to stay focused and relaxed. I usually teach yoga poses one by one. After students are comfortable with them, I will ask them to make their choice. I also play some relaxation music on Youtube and they will close their eyes and focus on their breathing for 2-5 minutes. Throughout the school day, I will probably repeat this practice from 3 to 5 times. I totally encourage you to give it a try!
Best,
Ms. Silvia

Thank you for sharing, Silvia! It will definitely be one of my go to resources. I was thinking about purchasing the book Yoga Pretzels for my class to introduce some different poses to get their wiggly bodies moving and stretching. Have you used or heard of it?
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great idea! I have heard of it, but I actually never used it. Please let me know what you think if if decide to buy it. Thanks!
